About us

Bournemouth Vegetarians and Vegans started before the Second World War,and was re-started in 1945 by Geoffrey Rudd who later became Secretary of the Vegetarian Society in Manchester.We are a non-profit making (volunteer-run ) group covering Bournemouth and surrounding areas. Our aim is to make life easier for local veggies and vegans by offering advice, information and the chance to meet socially with like-minded people.

Bournemouth Vegetarians and Vegans is now run by me after many decades of being run by Harry Mather. Harry is still in the group, but is taking a back seat.. Our events are open to anyone who may like to come along. We are affiliated with the Vegetarian Society and a group contact for the Vegan Society and we have a forum for anyone who may like to join. We have a monthly dinner meetings on the first friday .. at Wessex Tales Resturant our regular meeting place in Bournemouth and Roisin G. and myself try to gather enough veg*ans to go to the Vegan Fayres by coach.

I am curently editing information from Harrys original B'mth veggies and vegans website and transfering and updating the information into this new site. It will take a while to do. If you are from the Dorset area and know of any vegan or vegetarian resturant, any good health shops, guest houses ,can suggest an event or know of any other information which would be of interest to us then i would be pleased to hear from you .. either by phone or email (see contact page

In Addition to social meetings and trips some of us organise going to campaigns and collections promoting animal welfare and supporting charities.

• we have Animal Aid collections, yearly in Poole and Bournemouth. (The last collection was in Poole on 9th August)
• Next one- August 16th at Bournemouth Square.
